Fresh Start Women’s Foundation is honored to receive another year of grant funding totaling $50,000 from their long-time partners and supporters at Freeport-McMoRan. The funds will be used to support Fresh Start’s Upward Mobility Program, and the unique Career Pathways Specialist position, which is vital to guiding clients to career pathways that they enjoy, promise growth, and will pay them a living wage, making them self-sufficient.

“We are thrilled to continue offering our Career Pathways Specialist’s expertise and knowledge to our clients,” said Fresh Start President and CEO, Susan Berman. “It is integral to the success of the Upward Mobility Program and will enable more women to have the proper guidance and resources they need to get on a sustainable and self-sufficient career track. We are so grateful for Freeport-McMoRan’s continued support.”

The Upward Mobility program is an intensive 6-month program designed to give women more opportunities to become resilient and career ready while being connected to training, education and networking opportunities for a self-sufficient and upwardly mobile career track. Funding from Freeport-McMoRan is essential to continuing the growth and high-quality service delivered through this program.

Since January 2019 Fresh Start Women’s Foundation launched a pilot of the Upward Mobility program, which has 26 participants within two cohorts. To date, Upward Mobility now has 40 women who are moving forward in their careers. Some of the career pathways chosen include, but not limited to Healthcare, Technology, Small Business, and Public Service. Fresh Start is eager to see where these women go on their chosen career paths and how the Upward Mobility Program helps them reach new heights.
