FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Phoenix, AZ – The Fresh Start Women’s Foundation is pleased to announce their receipt of a grant totaling $100,000 from Thunderbirds Charities.  Affecting Fiscal Year 2019 (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019) these funds will support a capacity-building year for Fresh Start; specifically funding two things: Fresh Fridays and the Director of Operations position.

“Fresh Start is thrilled and honored to receive this grant from Thunderbirds Charities,” says Vice President of Development Cathy Kleeman. “We created Fresh Fridays as a bridge between agencies to help women with the transition from a shelter or rehabilitation program. These funds will allow us to expand the Fresh Friday program and will help us connect women to a larger community of support.”

“Fresh Start has such a tremendous impact on at-risk women and their families in our community and we are excited to support such a great mission,” said Carlos Sugich, President of Thunderbirds Charities.

Fresh Fridays are designed to introduce women to the programs and services offered at Fresh Start while leveraging community partners. Working with 180 agencies in the Valley allows Fresh Start to plug into a support network that can give women access to a full spectrum of care, services and programs. With the Thunderbirds Charities grant, Fresh Start will be able to increase the number of Fresh Friday events that they host which will allow more partner agencies and women to get involved.

Funds from Thunderbirds Charities will also cover a gap year of funding as we build our fundraising capacity to support the Director of Operations position as an institutionalized position in our budget permanently. “Fresh Start’s programs and services are designed to promote the financial self-sufficiency, career and educational advancement, and physical and emotional well-being of women and their families.” Explains Vice President of Development, Cathy Kleeman. “Grants like this one from Thunderbirds Charities will allow us to continue impacting women in the community.”
